Here it is, a stupid problem, but I like to see. I have been trying to solve this one since I bought the car, but to no avail.

The brights don't work (1990 s13). the lights go up fine, they don't flicker, the bulbs are fine. When I flip the lever, the lights go out, and there is no indication on the dash as to the brights being on, ie blue dash light.

Anyone have a clue. I have checked every fuse under the hood I know about and have checked every relay that I could. (forgot to put one back one time and headlights wouldn't retract until the following week when I put it back in <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> )

Thanks
Chuck

You are pushing the high beam lever foward right?

hehe...that's just funny...it's most likely a wiring problem...can't help on that though...sorry...at least it's a start...

your low beams work but your highs dont? did you first rtry replacing the lights? &nbsp;thats what it sounds like to me not a wiring problem.

I have tried moving the lever both forward and back. In both directions it turns the lights off. And, as I mentioned before, I tested the bulbs.

Here's an idea-- could it be something in the steering column. If so, is that hard to take apart?

take the harness off the lights and with a test light check for power on the high beam wire have a friend turn it on or just leave it on the high beam

no power = a wiring problem. or if your good with electronics check for continuity between the switch all the way to the bulb harness. if you need a diagram i have a nissan fsm for a 89 240 and 96 240s and they all should be the same wirings meaning s13 and s14 all the same for every year of the chassis code
