Helical LSD characteristics

From what I've been told, to check whether the car has LSD or not, I can simply jack the car up, spin one wheel and if the other wheel is spinning at the same direction then it's got a LSD, if the other wheel is spinning at the opposite direction, that means it a open diff.
Now that I've got a S15 diff in front of me, I spinned one half shaft, the other one actually spinned at the opposite direction.

Does it sound right for a helical LSD diff?
Or anyone can give me website talks more about helical LSD?
Any help would be appreciated.

My hlsd does not provide the common lsd characteristic of "turn one wheel and the other spins the same way." I think it did the standard open diff dealy where the wheels spin opposite but I cant promise that

it only puts torque to both wheels if they both have traction, if one wheel lifts off the ground, or if its not on the car,it will act like an open diff... try turn the input shaft and both outputs should go the same direction right?

Helical diffs act like open diffs when up in the air.

You have to hold the input shaft steady when you are testing it out, too. (ie the car in gear)

Best way to check is to take the diff out and open the cover. There were threads with pics on how to tell if it's a hlsd. Mainly, there should be some openings on the diff but not as much as an open diff.
