i always hear people say to be careful when working on your gauges and not to touch the needles because it might screw it up. so forgive me if this question seems to be purely out of paranoia. i was doing a little custom work on the guages and some dust got on the gauge face so i lightly tried to blow it off, but when i did my tach needle moved and then swung right back into its original position. it looks ok. did i screw anything up because the needle moved? or am i still ok?

you're paranoid, and so are the people that told you you'd screw em up by touching them.
if it went back to its original position then it's fine. hell, i've taken my gauge needles off a dozen or so times and they're still fine, as long as you re-calibrate them decently.

think of it this way... your car hitting a pothole did more damage to the needle than if you were to give it a good flick (i mean a GOOD flick too... like something your girlfriend does when she's annoyed with ya)

Shit... you get flicked?!? I get all out walloped!
J/K...
But moving needles isn't too bad. I've done it a couple times on other cars. They go right back. Now, if you wind the needle like 1080*, that's bad.
