There is neither a map sensor or boost sensor on Ka's.

maybe you mean its the 'maf' sensor near the airbox.

He provided a pic. Thats not a maf.
And you say you got a 96' right?
What is the actual code?

my 98 had a air pressure sensor (map) its just for emitions stuff.. I dont exactly what it does.. pulled it out.. and didnt even throw a code

S14's have 2 pressure sensors. One is the MAP and Barometric sensor(the one you are holding). The other is the Evap Pressure sensor.

You have to watch out cause when mine went the parts store and the dealership gave me the Evap sensor rather than the Map. They have a different voltage sweeps and the ECU doesn't like it. It took the dealer a day and a half of tracing to figure it out.

The major difference is in the vacuum nipple. The MAP one comes straight out where as the EVAP has a 90* bend in it. If they give you the one below, don't take it.

Also Ive bought one from Auto Zone that is the wrong part too so I was out like $90 for a sensor that is not needed.

OMG, 4 bar map sensor, now I can finally eliminate my MAF. J/k, anybody know what they use the map sensor for, seeing how there's no turbo, and there already is a MAF.

S14's do fuel trim by MAF and IAT/MAP. When mine went I had a dyno day and I went 18:1 and then shut it down. Replaced it then came back to normal.

too bad its only a 1 bar sensor.
im currently running the aem with just that sensor, no more mafs, works great.

So as far as function goes.. is the MAP sensor necessary? For anything other than emissions.. I didn't clearly understand the IAT/MAP comment..
