Ok, 91 automatic. I take off, car is slloowwww, and then surges at 5K. Almost like the feel of VTEC. It's weird. Maybe clogged injectors? It gets to 5K, and there is enough pressure to push the fuel through???? Maybe not, because it does it at exactly 5K EVERY TIME!!!! Any ideas???

sounds like fuel injectors to me, or fuel filter...

does the car seem like its running on 3 cylinders?

if it is, then pop the hood and start pulling sparkplug wires out one at a time and replace them. if one of them doesnt make the car run any worse, then you now know which cylinder the problem is...

to see if it is a fuel injector, plug wire, or sparkplug... swap them out with either good ones (if you cant do that, then just swap it from cylinder to cylinder, but other way is prefered)

give us some more info... kinda hard to go off "its slow"...

It's not running on 3 cylinders. It runs fine, it's just slow. Well, lol, all stock 240's are, but, it's abnormally slow, and then it hits 5K and has a surge, I guess I might try the injector cleaner, but, it seems like if it was the injectors, it would be at different points in the rpm. It's at 5K exactly, everytime.

Check your base timing, check the SCV system and make sure it is working, if the blades are open all the time it would have shit for low end torque.
Sounds like your ignition system is fine (plugs and wires) because it would get worse at higher rpms if the ignition had problems.

What's the SCV system?

try cleaning the AIV with carb cleaner, or replacing the fuel filter and reset the ECU.

Are u running exhaustless?, mine did this during a testdrive with no exhaust, its because cars have better low end torque with backpressure from the exhaust. At first i thought that my SR had some kind of Variable Valve Timing or Variable Cam Timing system that was malfunctioning, but then it turned out to be the exhaust.

I have the new 1 piece Apexi N1, so it's not that..... everyone keep guessing. Thanks, Charles
