im considering getting a s13 with 175k on the car/motor? how much life do u think this motor has left in it before it goes? the owner said he replaced the head gasket and tuned it up. im just curious if these motors last a long time

my brother's 1993 240sx had 240k miles on it when he bought 6 months ago. Only thing we've had to do to it since is replace the timing chain.

Before you buy look for signs of excessive wear. If the previous owner took care of the car and didn't beat on it a lot, just continue doing the same and it should last you a while. Bushings, shocks/struck and springs are probably worn out though...

Nope, you have about 5,143 miles left on that motor.

SEARCH! and you will find many a topic about high mileage KA's.

do u think 2500 is too much for a 92 s13 SE with that many miles? the body is in good condition..what are some major things to look out for?

should be 1500 -1800 at most . I'd pay no more than 1k for it if it was clean.(with that many miles)

they do last a long time. the problem is yours has already lasted a long time.

i definitely wouldn't pay 2500 for it.

i dont like fact that he replaced a head gasket. was it b/c it overheated? leaked oil blah blah blah ? chances are that this is what it was and the way i see it cars dont just overheat ... all problems can be pervented ahead of time . he must not have been paying attention to it like checking fluid levels or jsut inspecting it regulary. this dones not paint a picture of a good owner that takes care of his car. its just speculation, but think about it.

....if he was smarter he'd keep it to himself.

well, youre in north carolina and hes in california...but it still doesnt justify this particular car's high price...

paid 1800 for my s14 with 128K...a $50 water pump, $15 termostat, and some coolant...now it runs strong as hell...
i personally wouldnt pay that much for a car with so much mileage...IMO 2500 for that is rape...iono...you decide, but if 6 or 7 people are saying the same thing... ... take that into consideration...

haha now I feel like shit, I paid 3200 for a 1992 coupe last year. BUt I can't complain, the engine is strong as shit when I bought is at 161,000, now at 193,000 its still runs like a champ, with the exception of a timing belt tensioner rattle, which for some reason I had it fixed at Nissan 10 months ago

Depends what else comes with the car...
I have an s13 with digital hud, coupe model, and I was lucky and had gotten VLSD.........
I paid $2700 in cash, and the car only has about $115,000m....
Always compression test your engine, miles don't say a whole lot to the abuse that several owners could of put the engine through...........
If the engine is no good ATK can sell you a fully rebuilt for under $2000, then all you need to do is put on the header and mani.........
Believe me man $2500 is a firm price for living in Cali, there is a high demand for s13, and an even higher demand for s14......
AVG. resale of an s13 is $2500
AVG. resale of an s14 is $5500

Hmm, who is ATK?

Here you go.... www.atk-engines.com/
I would only buy there engines for there warrantee and reputation......
Thats if I was doing an all stock trim engine.........
If I was doing all motor, I would spend the $480 on a wiseco forged internal kit in 11:1 for streetable use in the KA, and probably pay Rebello racing the $1400 it would cost to put the bottom half together........ Then I would put the whole engine together myself.....
I was just checking out phat kat's prices on internally built, it cost $4000!!!!!!!!
