i have it and its awesome. make sure u get a new hotpipe tho. the one that comes with it has a shit bov flange, and u still have to use ur stock rubber elbow. this kit also creates a little more turbo lag but temp difference in between hotpipe and coldpipe make it soooo worth it :D

Odd, Shouldn't a fmic reduce turbo lag?

Odd, Shouldn't a fmic reduce turbo lag?

Depends on the application.
Sometimes intake temps are actually more important then turbo lag.

In the case of a stock t28 or something it wouldn't matter.

I've got one about the same size now and didn't notice a lag difference(although I do have maybe 12 inches of piping)...

well i plan on bolting it on. and use my stock hotpipe until i get my greddy alum one...

i still run the stock clutch fan with a rad and a raised hood... do you think ill have any overheating problems? my car has never overheated before. and have an aftermarket bumper so im sure the airflow wont be too drastic... i get my koyo in a couple weeks... :2f2f:

Yea I have the hybrid fmic on my redtop s13.

Works just like any other I've experienced for these cars.

I had to get a new hotpipe too, other than that it works great. I couldn't find a better deal on the price either.

One thing I changed on mine was the lower hotpipe. It goes from 3" at the core inlet and tapers to 2" where it connects to the upper hotpipe. I just cut it in half at the taper and had a 45degree bent piece of 2.25" aluminum welded on so that I could attach my 2.25" hotpipe directly to it. Maybe that's a tad extreme, but I didn't want 2.25" going into 2", and back to 3".

i have the bar and plate one and i like it alot. I have had it for about a year now and i haven't had any problems with it. I am wondering how cheap your picking that thing up for?

I have the bar & plate one I picked up awhile ago from those guys flyn performance. was nervous wiring the money but it came in perfect and all was well. very happy with the quality and I think it will work out beautifully for me when I put it in :-)

I got it for $399. Fits great. I have no overheating with stock clutch fan/shroud. I needed a 3"/2.75, or was it 2.50", reducer to fit it onto the throttle body. My r2d2 bov fit on that provided hotpipe nicely. The mounts supplied fit to the horn brackets nicely. The passenger side lower bracekt was too short. I was bolting the IC lower brackets to the front bolts on the tension rod brackets, is this correct? There weren't any instructions. This is all stuffed behind a cut up pignose bumper.

nice... yah the only thing mine didnt come with was the hotpipe.. hey sr240mike.. if its no problem for you, i was wondering if you can tell me what the thread pitch pattern is for the bolts that screw into the intercooler...

i dont have a fan shroud, but i have my stock clutch fan... but my hood is raised and i have an aftermarket bumper (vertex). will i have any overheating problems with just driving around and some hard driving? i live in san jose... so its pretty hot... but just wanted to know if i can run this IC without any problems.

Put a shroud back on and you probably won't have any problems. Im not sure about the hardware size though. With the Koyo you should be good. Hayaku racing in SF has koyo's for $290.

cool im probably gonna ghetto rig an altima fan on the frontside of the radiator to get a little more airflow just to be safe.

You'd definately be alright with Koyo.

I run the koyo, and tested it these last 2 weeks in hot weather. Car runs at whatever temp I set my fan controller to, no problem. If it's cool outside, sometimes the car won't even get up to full operating temp, almost runs too cold sometimes.

My hybrid kit also sits kinda low, so there is decent air getting to the radiator.

im also interested in this hybrid fmic. is it really that much better than all the other tube and fin ic's (anyone have proof besides the marketing stuff they show) and also where do you find them so cheap. the only place in the us ive found that sells them is hipro.com and they charge 675 for an s14 sr20 kit.

Ive been running a hybrid FMIC for almost a year now and I like it alot. Like everyone said, It fits really well. I went over a center divider at 40mph head first and dented the bottem but it dident crack or leak. Really good for the money.

hey broken what cooling mods do you have?

so i got the time to put it in... here are some pictures.

spool is noticably quicker and boost stays steady... havent actually gotten to run it hard yet... but so far i like it... installation was cake, all the brackets were aligned. its a little tilted but not too much... sits low but my bumper sits lower so theres still a decent amount of airflow going through the bumper... all the pipes aligned... im using my stock hotpipe for now because im waiting for my alum hotpipe to come in... but it runs no different.. my idle is still near perfect with no leaks or anything... good IC.. really good bang for the buck..
