My friend installed a new cd deck a few weeks ago, but after he did that my alarm isn't working. I took out my cd player, and there's 3 wires grouped together that aren't plugged into anything, a black, yellow and red wire. Anyone know if this could be for my alarm? I've got an alpine alarm/cd player, and no clue what the hell i'm doing.

Those are usually power wires... Black should be ground, Yellow 12v constant Red 12v switched? (I think that's right) but they definately sound like power wires.

hey man,
i had nearly the same problem. in many nissans, there is no ground wire (the black one) socket in the plug that the harness plugs into. what you have to do is ground it to something metal that is connected to the frame. after you do this, check your fuse box because more than likely one of your fuses is blown. change it, and if the stereo is grounded properly, it won't blow again. the yellow one is usually for a power antenna (which you probably don't have). i can't remember what the red one is for, but if there isn't a spot for it on the car, then you don't need it.

Transient, you are correct, those wire codes are usually right...spitz, you need to read the post more thoroughly...he wasn't asking about his radio, he was asking about his alarm!
Ok blink0r, try tapping those wires into the corresponding wires on the back of your deck and see if that helps. Why these wires were tapped into there in the first place baffles me but hey, I can't do everything for everyone! See if that does anything and if not, you may have to take it to a pro!

it is impossible to tell which wires he is talking about based on the informtion he gave. if he is talking about the wires that come out of the back of the stereo, then my explaination is correct. i said the reason his alarm isn't working is because of a blown fuse. i think you are the one who needs to read the posts more carefully!
