Why is it that the Japanese home market s13, does not have a frame rail, the entire length of the body, on the left side? I've seen someone talking about it on here, but I cant find it at the moment. Basically, the left frame rail, is only half of a frame rail.

Anyone?

its in the rear, left side??, small portion iirc

its a small part..not the WHOLE rail

simple answer to that . Federal Crash Safety standards. I.E. Our crash safety standards are stricter than Japans. Look at any JDM bumper support, you will see the difference, same goes for entire chassis. JDM cars are lighter than ours by about 100-150 lbs, because of this.

Would that make a US market vehicles chassis any stiffer?
