Okay somebody please correct me if im wrong with any information on this. I was reading the FSM and it says that we use R12 Freon? I heard that R12 is really hard to find these days and is really expensive. For example with my old camry, it used to use R12, but the guy was charging $70/lb for it, so my dad had it converted to R134a. So if 240 does use r12, can you just recharge it with r134a, or do you have to replace some parts so that it can accept r134a? Also is there any way to tell by looking at a tag or something to tell what kind of system I have, like to tell if it has been changed before i bought the car or something?
Thanks...

'95+ use R134a. S13 use R12, and you need to convert it just like your dad did with the Camry. If it's been changed, on the compressor there will be a tag stating to fill with r134a only. They are NOT compatable, and you'll fry your entire a/c system if you just top it off with r134a.

you CAN use a product called "freeze 12"

that's what i'm running. it doesn't cool as well as it used to, but it's still good. it's cheap too!

Whats really fucking gay recently r134's price skyrocketed. The major manufacturer just cut production of it because a new type is suppose to be coming into market soon. ASSHOLES

Either use R12 or R134A, don't use that other shit you can buy. I am not even going to go into why because there are many articles that do that.

R134A uses a PEG oil while R12 uses mineral as well as other differences. So it will have to be retro-fitted...
