My friend owns a 1989 Supercharged Mr2 and he told us all that some one helped him open his wastegate all the way and that its better this way. Now from what I know about wastegates and thats not much but dont they open all the way on their own?

The SC MR2 doesn't really have a wastegate... at least not in the same sense as a Turbo car. The way you increase boost on the SC is by changing a pulley or two - to make the SC spin faster. On the MR2 you need to do "The ABV Mod" when you change to a higher-boost pulley. At the moment, I can't recall what ABV stands for but it's some sort of device that limits your boost to 8psi unless you bypass it.

funny i was just reading about it, 'cause i'm intrestead in a SC MKI (so light, so dope!, as a project car. I absolutley didn't read clearly what you are suppose to do, but i know you can get higher PSI (14?) if you change the SC pulley to one made by cusco? It showed step by step on how to mess w/ you MAF so u don't get lean mixture and the AVF stuff...

The SC MR2 isn't all that light for its size... 2600 lbs or so. The early NA models (85-86) are about 2350 lbs. 14psi is about the limit of the stock supercharger, too. At that point it starts getting pretty inefficient. If I had an SC I'd run it at 12psi (Blitz pulley) and make it more efficient with a larger IC.
