hello just wondering if anybody experience alot of back fire when yoru on low idle for examlbe I can be driving my car and I will be in 2nd doing 20 or so and the car will back fire when I let go of the gas and the car idles low. mods on car are

sr20det engine
apex n1 exhaust
3" downpipe no cat
tubular headers and o2 housing
fmic
elec fan and radiator
tial BOV
stage 3 exedy puck clutch
turbo xs controller running at 11 psi

the back fire is not once in a while happends quiet often but only at low idle not at high rpm or while I am driving only when I let go of the gas.

yeah was just checking to see if it's normal on the sr20det to do that. don't want my valves to bend or some crazy stuff like my eclipse did hehehe.

rather common with an atmoed BOV if you recirc it that helps because the car wont run rich when the bov opens

sounds like an exhaust leak to me. This happened to my friend with her Jetta. We found out that it was the exhaust that had a leak in the b-pipe near the muffler. It sucks up air, creating a vacuum when you let off the gas pedal. And PoP :werd:

I was reading through the FSM and saw this. :hyper:
Diagnostic Procedure 21 - Backfire through the Exhaust
Check Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor and its circuit. If No Good (N.G.) then replace or repair. Inspection End.

ref: EC & EF-89

We need to read through the FSMs more. It answers a lot of questions :wiggle:

happens to my car all the time, it sounds like a gun shot on my car cause i have a straight pipe.... and it's the bov that makes it happens.... my s-afc kinda helps it not be as loud...
