SARD torque control valve... ?

OK, I was browsing around raretrick.com and noticed a part made by SARD called an exhaust torque control valve. (http://www.raretrick.com/index.asp?cat=1904&Page=1&Display=Yes&Back=Listings&ProductsID=7483) According to the description this valve replaces the CAT much like a test pipe. However, its purpose is to increase torque and help turbo spool times by increasing backpressure at lower RPMs.
I've never seen or heard of anything like this before...so I guess my question is this: Does anyone have any experience with this--IE, does it actually work well enough to make much of a difference?

Hmmm, SARD always comes up with interesting stuff, I wonder how effective it really is.

Sounds a lot like the apex "active silencer" + ps revolution exhaust, except it's further back. It's a sort of pressure sensitive valve for keeping your exhaust quiet at lower rpm. Could be the same idea but a different marketing angle.

You could probably also get the same effect using a spring actuated exhaust cutout with the correct spring tension.

Wow, good info. I've never thought about the silencing aspects of this type of device. Looks this would be the most practical use. I have the A`PEXi N1 Turbo muffler (80mm IN/OUT W/115mm TIP)
maybe I'll try out the active tail silencer one of these days. Doesn't seem like it would do much more than muffle the sound under normal driving, as they don't advertise it as anything else. Interesting though, hah :D See something new everyday!
