Just get a set and use the 'ol trial and error method.  And don't ask stupid questions!  Who the hell knows these numbers off the top of their heads?  I changed my brakes to 300zx's, and still dont know.
Does it really make a difference?  Can you only borrow like 3 sockets at a time?  I mean, really!?!

who knows these numbers off the top of their head?...uhh, I do! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>
Calm down Jeff...there are no stupid questions....just stupid people. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'> j/k

If it's the same as S13's, which it should be, you'll need a 14mm to replace the pads. If you're replacing the rotors, you'll need a (*edit) 19mm (not 17mm) as well. If you're bleeding the brakes, you'll need a 10mm.

That's so funny Lance- I was gonna say the same thing.... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

17mm? Are you talking about on the back of the caliper? If so, it is 19mm &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Back of the caliper? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/eh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':eh:'> You can take the caliper off with a 14mm socket on mine.
Now that little thing that holds those spring-clip things that holds the pads needs 17mm...or at least I'm pretty sure they do...it may be 19, but that just doesn't sound right. &nbsp;*edit: &nbsp;it's 19mm.

Awww... I think I did it the hard way &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/huh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

I took the complete caliper off of the suspension and propped it aside. To do that, you need to remove two 19mm bolts. I did it this way because we had just done my friends' 300zx brakes and I did pretty much the same thing on mine &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Oh well. If you want to do it the hard way, use a deep socket 19mm &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Hopefully you are talking about a Z31 because changing the pads on a Z32 are the easiest brakes I've ever done.

Oh and I just did all of my brakes and you only need to a 14mm (S13). The 14mm takes off the top half of the caliper to get to the pads. The 19mm takes off the whole caliper. I'm still not sure if you can change the pads by taking off the whole caliper but the 14mm way is definetly easiest.

Ok, I'm an idiot...it was bugging me so I checked. &nbsp;It's definitely a 19mm...as has already been confirmed by gschroeder. &nbsp;But you don't need a deep socket for it. &nbsp;You don't need it period unless you're replacing a rotor. &nbsp;I don't know where I got 17 from...sorry for the misinfo. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

I can attest to being able to remove and replace the pads without the 14mm, but like I said, that's the hard way <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Okay, so someone was telling me that on the rear brakes, I could change the rotor by ONLY using the 14mm screw (swinging the caliper up). Will I or won't I be able to remove the rotor like this? If not, all of the suspension is in the way <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Btw, the deep socket 19mm just makes it easier to use a conventional torque wrench.

I remember!!! &nbsp;I know where I got 17mm from. &nbsp; The bolts that are 19mm in the front are 17mm in the back!

So for the back you need a 14mm and 17mm socket. &nbsp; Why do you say all of the suspension is in the way? &nbsp;Clearance problems with a ratchet?...just use a socket wrench.

I'm just gonna add that I changed my rear rotors and pads on my S13 last night and it wasn't fun at all!!! &nbsp;for the rears yes, 14mm and 17mm needed, although the line was a 12mm for me <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> &nbsp; I had a hell of a time getting the pads to go in place, very frustrating to say the least... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':sly:'>

12mm to bleed?...hmmm that's weird, or maybe my car is weird.

There's a trick to getting the rear pads in that makes it rediculously easy. Instead of trying to put the pads in flat and trying to get the tabs on the pads to fit in the spring-clip thingies (what are those things really called?), place them in perpendicular to the rotor so the thin side of the tab will easily fit into the clip. Then rotate them into the correct position...like closing a book. I can change my rear pads in like 10 minutes.
