having trouble gettin tach to work after swap. any ideas or other threads on how to get it to work?

yup its a 90. i dunno if the sensor on the tranny would be it cause i think its broken and i dont think the guy swaped it out. not sure till i take a closer look. any ideas?

you either need a JDM tach, or a 91+ i believe. The speed sensor for the SR does not work with your cluster. search you will find what you need. I bought a JDM cluster and swapped the tach out for my car.

Speed sensor has nothing to do with the tach.

You fail at reading. And the other kid fails at geneal knowledge.

The tach is the problem, the 89-90 tachs do not work with the signal from the SR, so you'll need a 91-94 tach or a JDM unit to make it work.
My statement was made because the speed sensor sends a signal to the speedometer, not the tach. The speed sensor works fine with all clusters, contrary to what 'goneturbo' said. I wanted it corrected so the next troll who stumbles in and reads this doesn't get confused and think they need a different speed sensor to correct a tach problem.

thats weird cause i have an 89 240sx and and i still have the stock cluster and it works fine with my sr20det!!

^^^ That is par for the course, with the one exception being the tach, you will need to score yourself a JDM tach, or at least one from a DOHC cluster, my man
