I just got some new tires put on my FNO1RC's, 17x8 w/235-45-17s. They are 35mm offset, with a 1/4 spacer. I didn't have a problem with my 225's, but my 235's are rubbing the fenderliner. Anyone know a quick fix? Thanks in advance.

watch out if you have a CAI, and it rains heavily

Is this a regular solution for this problem? I had though about it, but I was worried about exposing the underlying sheetmetal to the elements all the time... :-/

my 225s rubbed the top of my fender on my s13, so i raised the car about a 16th of an inch, and it stopped. It still rubs the plastic part of the fender liner when i turn hard over, but it doesnt scrape much at all, and doesnt really do much damage.

yes is a common problem, lose the lining
i havent had one in either car for over 2.5 years
then again i dont have to worry about snow and shit like that

but yeah i wouldnt worry at all.

just remove the lining, make sure there are no wires exposed to the wheel though.

don't worry about a little bit of rubbing it won't hurt anything. i'm sure doing a burnout or drifting will put 100000x's more damage to your tires than a little rub at full lock.

heh heh, its not a little rub at full lock... at about 3/4 turn it begins to rub, just normal driving... especially with my tein tie rods... eh, I'll pull the fender wells off this weekend... :wiggle:

yeah
and if you still rub
break out the propane torch and mallet
hammer away.

your tires are too fat for 17x8, maybe 235/40/17 works, or 225/45/17 or something even smaller. i use 235/40/17 on 17x9.5.

17x9 with 215/45/17 is good. absolutely no flex in the tires and handles like a dream on track, kinda stiff if you're a whiney biatch though. I don't understand why people on this forum think stretched tires are rice? my friend's had 205 on a 9".

i am also getting 17x9 +17 with a 245 40 17 on an s14
you need to roll the fenders and maybe pull a little.
i want grip so i run the 245 on a 9.
i also drift and it will be fine for drift.
some people like the stretch for drift, others dont.
not all pros even bother with the stretched tires.
