I was wondering if this can be fixed, if so, what would be a good ball park figure. I figure I would ask before i decide to make this car into something more, or just leaving it as a beater.

Yes. Sell it as a shell and start over with a rust free car.

Seriously, it's repairable but for the amount of labor involved it's not worth it.

That's an easy fix, no need to beat the car down cause of that...just follow "R240NA" signature and you should be fine...

it CAN be fixed but the cost would exceed the benefit

is it a crack or is it rust?? just take some sand paper to it... , better yet, remove all parts around that area, sand it.. Have a buddy or shop do a seam weld on it.. then spray paint it white.. your set. If you want, put a strut tower bar on and then maybe you will feel more comfortable about the car.
