i went to my local shop to check the price on a custom exhaust and he said he cant do any bends over 80 or so degrees. he took a look under my car and saw the stock piping where it bends around suspension and said he couldnt do it without stretching the pipe too thin. my question is how are the aftermarket kits routed? if people could show me some S13s with exhaust routes id appreciate it.

just look at the exhaust pictures from companies, their piping barely even bends like 10-30 degrees. how would you need an 80+ degree bend? just go to another shop...

no im not making sidepipes lol. he said he can bend and weld all the tubes himself unless theres an 80+ degree bend. which in stock, there is. the reason i dont go buy a premade exhaust is because i dont have $500. this guy is only charging me like $225. so please, some pictures

most aftermarket exhausts re-route the stream for a smoother flow...look under your car and see where it will fit.

use google to find pic of a s13 aftermarket exhaust and show the guy what you want...if he is any good, he will be able to make the piping similar...

WOW podunk or not thats a freaking rip off! What do you pay for an oil change? I could drive quite a ways to save a $125 bucks. It cost me $80 bucks to run mine I supplied the muffler though. but sheesh 225 is way to high considering apparently they dont even know how to run exhaust pipe or you wouldnt have had to start this thread. but hey if your happy I'm happy for ya. ;)

Dude, goto another shop. I went to an exhaust shop, and told the guy to bend it as straight as possible, and the thing looks like it was barely bent,....Now it sounds great, and looks great.

I don't think 225 is all that bad if that includes, the muffler, the resonator, the bends and labor.
I made my 3" exhaust and it cost me about that much. I'll post pics when I get home.

$50 for Magnaflow muffler
$35 for 1 U Bend
$70 for Magnaflow tips
$10 for 5' of 3" pipe
$45 for resonator.

$35 for a U-Bend? you can buy 2 maybe 3 u-bends for that price yourself.

I had a guy today quote me that same price, for custom cat back w/ flow master muffler, If you want to save some money buy your muffler off ebay and then have the shop do the piping I built my first exhaust for 170 that way.

see people? im not being rediculously overcharged. that is a good idea though. buy my own muffler, maybe cat, then have him weld/bend all the piping and tell him as straight as possible

Yeah,I will add that I bought my muffler and cat of eBay and got a steal on them. I think I paid 30 or less for the brand new high flow, and same for the new __________ brand muffler (Censored, for the sake of not being flamed, hah hah.)
