NOR CAL 240's

Yo I am just outside of stockton which is about 40mins south of Sac. If anyone in this area has a group or some 240s want to get together we should make it known that their is enough of us up here. No offence to the SoCals but I personaly think it is to far to drive for more then a few weekend (or longer) trips and I would like to see a group up here.

Does anyone know of some good places in norcal? I know their are some races on arch rd. but I also hear they are being shutdown and watch by c0ps. I can do without the c0ps so if you know of some places that are good or some autocross or tracks that can be rented or used for cheap then speak up.

I saw some people in brentwood, around tracy, and manteca.
Lets get organized because I want to see some of the lime light shared by us that socal currently has!!

Edit: Okay the Mapquest link didn't work. If you go to Mapquest and look for Calaveras Rd / Milpitas, CA, and then zoom out a couple times, you should see this road out in the middle of nowhere with a whole lot of turns.

I'm from Fremont too, and like Danio said, it'd probably be the shittiest place for a meet. Danville/Pleasanton is a pretty cool place to meet too. They got some nice backroads that are in the cuts and not too many people. Calaveras Rd in Milpitas is nice too. Only problem there is that there's hella mountain bikers and joggers running on the road and it's not too wide. I'm down for a meet though.

I also work at 4:00 this Saturday, but I'm down for a meet at either place. I know where McCarthy Ranch is but I'd need directions to the other place. (Edit: Actually, I think I know where that is now, but I thought that's part of Fremont. &nbsp;:P) For the "boba loving fiends" there's a Fantasia at Milpitas Square (crowded), right next to McCarthy Ranch. They don't serve food though, like Tapioca Express.

I guess we just need to decide which place is better for the meet. They're only about 30 minutes apart, right? Okay, I say we meet at 12:00 noon, unless there's a more convenient time for everyone. I'll probably be going to that one and Danio and Topspeed said they'll probably go. Maybe we can all meet beforehand and head up there and represent 240's!

Maybe we should gather somewhere and then visit the Lick Observatory. The drive there and back should be fun, and I'm guessing the observatory should be interesting. It's open to the public. I don't know what their parking lot is like, but it might even be a good place for photo shoots.

The Lick Observatory is a nice idea. &nbsp;The view and taking pictures are great up there but only problems is the parking lot is rather small and there is a lot of police up there. &nbsp;The observatory has their own police station up there, and I don't want to drive my car up there.

I went on Mt Hamilton Rd to the Lick Observatory today. It was a long drive, probably too long to be appropriate for a meet. And yeah the observatory's parking area is pretty small. But anyway, it was a really fun drive. =) It makes me think twice about getting stiff shocks/struts though. That road is really bumpy and fun to drive, but with stiff suspensions it might feel too bumpy and cause understeers/oversteers more easily, right? I'm thinking that road is probably way too rough for Tein HA coilovers even on their softest settings. Maybe my next upgrade should be a set of anti-sway bars instead.

Well, technically the next local autocross would be Duel at De Anza. &nbsp;But no way I'm going to wait in line for 3 hours again just to be turned away.

The next SCCA autox is on 5/26 at Candlestick. &nbsp;This site is more suited for 240's since there's room for a nice long course with fairly long (autox-wise) straights.

Oh yeah, I don't know if you guys heard of 'Redwood Road', but it's a NICE road to take a cruise on. &nbsp;Redwood Rd starts in Castro Valley, and ends in Oakland on Skyline blvd. &nbsp;I went for a ride there with a friend and now he's hooked on it (and he rides an R1). &nbsp;So anyways, I was thinking for the next meet, we all can take a cruise up and back. &nbsp;Maybe meet up at this one church on Seven Hills Rd. in Castro Valley. &nbsp;Reply back ppl. &nbsp;Lates.

Well there's a backroad which goes from Fremont to Castro Valley. Dunno if that's the one you heard about. There is a downhill turn (Castro Valley to Fremont) somewhere in the middle that looks easy but is quite dangerous if you're going too fast (I witnessed a crash there that led to a small fire and 911 being called), and a couple unpredictable sharp turns toward the Fremont end, but other than that it should be a fun road to cruise on in a small group. I don't know if a big group would be a good idea or not. The scenery is okay. Oh yeah and it's only fun if there aren't any slow cars in front of you.

The "club" idea was made so 240SX enthusiasts in the SF Bay Area can organize local meets more easily and share info they have, like good deals on parts, or good autoshops, and help each other out. (For example, yesterday Ben just helped me change the fluids for the engine, transmission, and LSD on my car. Thanks man. =] )

Mike and I decided on the name Ni-2 (which is just short for Nissan 240SX) and had our first official meet on May 5. We had three S14s and two S13s. We went driving on Mount Hamilton and unfortunately one of the S13s crashed, but it was a really fun/eventful night. Since then we've hung out together a number of times and kept in touch online.

Our only problem seems to be the name Ni-2, which seems to make people think we're a street racing crew. We went with that name because it's easy to remember, it made sense, and it's short (as opposed to something like Nissan 240SX Club of the San Francisco Bay Area). So right now we're called Ni-2, but we're open to suggestions for better names.

Right now we don't have a mailing list or anything but once the group is big enough, maybe someone can set one up. We also plan on eventually having a web site profiling some members' cars, like what they did in the SoCal240SX web site. Anyway, that's all. The club is basically to help us get together more easily and stuff. So far with the few people we have it's been working out pretty well.
