I am installing a t3/t4 50/63ar and am going to run it at 6.5 psi with my tial. My question is can I run this on stock timing or should I set it back to say 18. I have seen kits for sale that promise 238 whp with stock timing and I am sure this wont reach that but I just want to make sure. thanks.

do a search. Different people recommend different amounts of retard. But a widely accepted amount is .5 degrees of retard per lb of boost. So with ~7pis, you'd want to set your timing at about 16-17 degrees btdc.

good luck.

the 370's will also bump you up a bit on the timing map, so stock timing might be a bit risky.

Sounds good, I will bump it back a bit. I have the msd btm but I cant find anyone who has installed this on the internal coiled s14. If I take it back to 17 what kind of difference will I feel in driving off boost. thanks.

oem timing is 15 degrees before TDC. and stock boost is at 7psi. What advatnages do you get by retarding it?

"But a widely accepted amount is .5 degrees of retard per lb of boost. So with ~7pis, you'd want to set your timing at about 16-17 degrees btdc." - is that just on a larger turbo with bigger AR size or accepted in general on FI motors?

stock timing IS NOT 15 degrees btdc. Stock is 20.

.5 degrees retard per lb of boost is widely accepted for ka's. I'm not sure about other engines.

ooh sorry, i was under the impression that he was talking about SR20s.

anways back to the question. Why do u retard your timing when you increase boost?
