Hey all! So I was interested in purchasing a 1993 240sx, however it is a convertible. I was wondering, how hard would it be to cut the coupe top off of another 240sx and put it on the convertible 240?

Dude ...... Don't do it. Just sell / keep it & buy a coupe. There are not many unmolested S chassis left, do you really want to hack two cars to make one?

First off, if it’s a 1993, it’s not a convertible

Unless someone from Alabama took a coupe and hacked the roof off. . . .

Convertibles were available in 1992, 1993, and 1994. In 1994, they were the only 240s sold. There are a few guys who made hard tops out of a wrecked coupe's roof. Pretty sure there are only a few because it's really difficult.

Upon further research, you’re correct. I thought ALL verts were 1994 only.
TIL.

Stop... Just stop. Think about the question you are asking and how dumb it sounds. You want to cut up another car, just so you can try to half-ass graft it onto this one you want to purchase?

Why would you do that? Just find a coupe...:picardfp:

I understand people attempting do to this years ago, but if you had actually done a simple google search you'd have realized it is quite difficult and requires some serious skill.

To reiterate this is a BAD idea. Not to mention a total waste of time, money, and 2 cars...

Don't believe me look @new4delife cancerous Instagram page :wtf:

I think you just got the fact backwards, all USDM 94's are verts.

But OP, don't do this, you're just asking for the car to roll and crush you inside it when the welds fail. Enjoy the vert or sell it.

Factor about $2500-4000 to do what you are saying by a reputable body shop.

It will still be weaker than a factory coupe (in the scope of what you are suggesting)

You will end up with a car with nice paint on the roof and shit paint everywhere else (full paint job not included in my above estimate)

You will waste a lot of effort and time just to start at first base. Don't get emotionally attached to the first 240sx you are considering to buy. Wait, save some more money and buy a coupe.

+1 on just get a coupe...less effort involved and like stated above will overall be more structurally sound

why wouldn't you find a coupe and transfer your convertible parts instead

Fuzzkill did a manual swap, Kras007 as well seemed to have a lot of info on it. Im sure there are a couple others the former of those two mentioned got back to me when I had a few unrelated questions. I dont know who you messaged, but if it was one of those two guys then my info is likely useless.
