ok well lookin into buying this 89 coupe sohc. the motor has been completely rebuilt, new pistons, rod, rings, port polished head, the whole nine. well it runs real strong but. while driving once and a while at like 5-5500 rpms the motor cuts out but not completely, its exactly like when u hit 110 and fuel cuts off, but way too early. This doesnt happen all the time though, just once and a while. anyone have any ideas. ok well in case u ask he has all paper work on bebuild so i know he isnt lying. motor has bout 100 mile on it.. well i hope i gave enough info and i hope someone can help, so thanx

lack of fuel? bad fuel pump?

i dunno....take it to a mechanic (and make the guy pay for it)
they are kind of good at doing things like figuring it out :)

Sounds like a fuel problem. Fuel pump, filter, lines.

It could also be as simple as a short in the 5th gear position sensor. If the car thinks it's in 5th gear it will limit revs to 5000 or so.

Just a thought did you change your fuel filter?
