Well I purshased my first SR20 for my pos 240sx and off course the bolts are in bags so I dont know what bolt goes where that always fun. I wanted to know if the intake manifold uses studs or bolts that are 12mm

The Intake Manifold splits in two.

The main bolts for the top part are 2 12mm nuts, (2) 12mm 1” bolts and (1) 12mm long one in the middle.

Then you have some 12mm's that hold clips for wiring and what not.

We are both talking about this piece right? I have worked on like 3 sr20's and they all had bolts for it, they were also all half ass 240's that my friends owned so maybe they use studs.

Just go to an auto parts store nearby and they can match the thread pitch and size. If they only have studs that are longer just give em a lil cut with an angle grinder.

I used a 10mm stud from my old Ka water pump which worked fine.

I have one more question relating to the timing on the crank gear due you go with the large mark in the manufactured crank gear or the small dot? The person I bought engine from had it on the small dot.

what small dot? You mean cam timing?

To time the sr20, I never use the crank to line anything up. I don't think anybody does it that way actually. Its just "common knowledge" that you set the cam lobes facing outwards, and set the cam dots to roughly 10 and 12, you need to look this up Im just glazing it. Then simply count links between dots and its set.

We ignore the timing color links and especially the crankshaft dots or... whatever.

and its a running joke that "once every three summer solstice monsoon, the light shineth through the trees and thine 3 links shall be in harmony..." basically, its a holy symbol on an sr20 if the colorful links ever match the 3 positions simultaneously. It will make sense once you learn the motor.
