Shimming VLSD S14

I picked up a 97’ s14 VLSD to throw in my s13 as a replacement for my open diff. I’ve been told I should shim it to make it lock up better. I’ve never shimmed a diff or know anyone who has, so what needs to be done to shim this VLSD?? And Is it worth shimming it or just leave it as Is?
