Has anyone on this forum moved there A/C controls down where the stereo resides? I would like to do this in my S14, but was wondering if I should be aware of any difficulties I might encounter? I will be installing some gauges where the A/C is currently at...

its really easy but the cable for the temp mixer is short... what I did was switch it to the other side of the lever, you'll see what I mean. It seems to work ok, until the platsic tab broke off. Now it seems like it does'nt go all the way over to cold.
But anyway, yeah, I did it but I don't have pics of it up yet.

Cool, great to know that some of you have tried it. I found a great website that has a picture of a S14 with a custom face...looks clean...

S14s have no cable. The harness is long enough if you cut the ties back in the dash. 5 minutes.

No mods needed..wire has plenty of extra length.

I did mine easy enough, a little bit of trimming to make it fit, but yah... super easy.

Thanks for the pic, looks like you have four gauges in that top spot! Right on, I will be installing my gauges here soon.

is there enough length in the wires to reach to the center console under the arm rest without re-wiring? doubt it, but just thought i'd ask

ahh, sorry I didn't catch s14 first time. Yeah if s14 doesn't use the mechanical cable then thats nice, you can put it whereever you want, just have to splice the cables.
s13 goes below the radio pretty easily, like I said. Whoever said it doesn't, doesn't know what they are talking about. My car is sitting at home, with the HVAC controls working just fine, in that exact configuration.

Nice wheel Brian.

Has anybody else seen the Defi gauges that are supposed to go completely black when the lights aren't on? Just commenting on it since having the gauges up there leave me more paranoid about people going..."WOW A TURBO CAR!" If those gauges function as they're pictured then it would be a nice choice for those trying to hide everything while still maintaining a functional location for gauges.

i've seen those and they look sick.
but pricy.

i'm planning on having the gauges rececessed a little, and just having a black cover over the whole thing.
like this:

but better and in the climate control spot

To get the climate controls under the radio, you have to trim about 2mm off of each side so that the face of the controls peeks through the radio bezel.

An FYI...Bob (hey808) did my dash for me. The picture really doesn't do justice to the quality. The fitment of the gauges & the SAFC-II is perfect.

Yeah my wiring for the climate controls doesn't go far enough to sit under the radio. So, needs some modifying.
