S13 ka24de timing chain failure

So here it is, i bought this ka24de knowing it had timing chain issues, it was rebuilt 1500 miles ago with all oem parts (except for the timing chain and guides because 700 bucks from nissan) and i pull off the pan to display nice pieces of metal shrapnel from the chain links, now the question is, do i pull the bearing caps off and take a look at all them to ensure that none of the shrapnel made its way inside and scored the brand new oem crank or do i trust that they are ok?http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161114/6984e9e8db48320d2c2a8f803366a403.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161114/1fd8687878f9973d20c41aeae7aec189.jpg

How does the pick up screen look?

Does the area above the chain on the valve cover show wear to explain the shavings?

It does not and the pick up screen has no debree other, it looks ok, the cylinder walls are clean and have no scoring

Im going to throw the oil pan and valve cover in the parts washer today so its all clean for a better look

Usually the chain end up contacting the valve cover in the front. Should be obvious. Is the engine in the car?

No sir it is not, its sitting upside down on an engine stand right now, also looking at the valve cover i noticed extremely minor scratches, nothing major, also looking at the head there are no pieces of shrapnel sitting near the valves, im also doing a hot cam swap on the motor so i will pull off the intake cam and look at races to ensure there is no scoring

You may as well disassemble no clean everything to be sure if it's already out

Through the dealer yes, otherwise what i have found online from nissanparts.cc is still over 400

and those are regular prices, anyone with a shop account or who works at a shop can probably get them cheaper, I can get a whole set without gears for $90 through carquest on my work account and a whole set with gears for $220 the same way

also im seriously questioning this rebuild from 1500 miles ago, why in the world would someone buy a 1000+ plus brand new crank instead of grinding the used one or finding a used one and grinding it but not spend money on a new timing set? someone flat out lied to you or was not very bright, either way I would be tearing that whole engine apart to find out what was done wrong

Didnt want to type it all out again but i did this last night, everything looks amazing

Well worked on the dual cam this evening and got the timing cover off, also removed and cleaned the oil pickup and then checked rod bearing clearences on all the cylinders and all checked within spec, no major scoring on the rod bearings or crank, tomorrow after work im going to remove the timing chain assembly and install the new exhaust cam on the intake side for the hot cam swap, going the 248/248 route and then next friday get the new timing chain kit ordered up and then put it back together, its then at that point i can get the valve cover painted up and start ordering parts in for the rest of the swap, countdowns coming real soon

Also im probably going to go with the tsubaki or something like that timing kit, ive confirmed through nissan technicians that they are the manufacturers of the factory timing stuff, just with a different name

IMC has the tsubaki timing kit in Tacoma Washington for $157, find someone with a shop and a IMC account, plus with timing chain sets brand really doesn't matter, never ever seen a timing chain kit from any major parts house that was poor quality no matter what its for unless it has any form of timing solenoids

I actually live in federal way wa and go to college at bates in tacoma so i may very well do that!!!! Know any places or dealerships local that would have an IMC account?

not a clue, most shops should though, do you know anyone who works at a shop? imcs list price is $260 which is about standard for anyone who doesn't have an account
