car is an s13 with s13 sr20, s14 bb turbo, 550cc injectors, fmic, 3" downpipe and exhaust with an enthalpy tuned ecu, pretty standard setup.

recently installed a hallman mbc and anything over 10psi it blows the spark out, even with the plugs gapped all the way down to .018 and with either bkr6e and bkr7e plugs (acts the same with both) also goes to 10:1 at wide open throttle, all coils seem to be firing fine and coil harness is in good shape with a good ground to the firewall

any ideas what it could be? i was thinking the ignition timing is retarded too far possibly due to a bad knock sensor but havent had a chance to get a timing light on it yet

Interesting, you'll have to get a timing light on it otherwise anyone would be guessing. MAP or MAF? If so what?

Boost.leak.test.

will try that too, thanks

I believe it's using the knock map as well.
Check ecu for codes, then verify timing. Test to see, if it's fixed. Spark plug gap .028 all day long.

Don't forget the coil packs in these vehicles can be an issue too. I've had coil packs that fire fine under light load. But start breaking up really bad under boost

If its 10:1 you need to lean it out to 11:1 or 12:1 or so (boost leak test, followed by tuning)

I keep my gap around 0.035" no sense in going down to 28 thousandths if you are only running a 250rwhp setup

check with martin...he retuned mine cuz I was at the opposite...lean during boost...just retune and is awesome!

thanks guys, if it ends up not being a boost leak or timing issue i will give martin a call
