Rear Main Seal... Does it have to be flush to the retainer?

So I'm preping the engine to be swapped, but i pressed the rear main seal too far in where it's even with the driveshaft but not flush with the retainer...

Does the seal have to be flush?

I usually try to have it flush...there should be a back stop to keep it from going to far

I pushed it in until it wouldn't go further... do I am fearful that i have to disassemble everything to get back into it :|

It should be fine the way that you have it. I also like to keep my right around flush. If you yourself are too worried, just replace it. The seal is fairly cheap, around $10.
