'95 ka alternator /w fog Q

i'm looking to replace my alternator. it makes a funky sound and i think it's going bad. it got caked with oil during the long period of time my front main seal was leaking.

i noticed on oem parts catalogs there is a distinction made between alternators for s14s with fogs and w/o. wonder if there is any harm/benefit in mixing and matching? a local junkyard has one but its for a s14 with fogs and mine doesn't have 'em. i'm not very keen on electrical stuff so any help is appreciated. thanks!

S13, S14 Zenki base model, and S14 Kouki all use 80amp alternator.

S14 SE (with fog) uses 90amp alternator.

They will both swap to each other. Everything is identical.

i had a feeling you'd be the one to reply. :) figure this isn't 'common knowledge.' i guess that means nothing is going to explode if i stick the fog lamp alternator in there. thanks for your help man!

I do what I can. The 90amp will actually be a nicer unit since it gives a little more charging current, although it's only above 5k rpm that you'll notice it.
