S13 Hatch
17x9 +15

I currently have 225/45/17 Square G8 from enjuku

Is there a better tire size for gas mileage that's safe?
I'm lowered abut on stance coo lovers but this is my daily driver.

I have had good luck on 16s but driving style affects it the most...

Well I dont think I'm gonna be changing my wheels anytime soon so I'm sticking with my 17s. Thanks for the input though, I just wasn't sure if there was a better tire for a 17x9 rim that was safe. I don't want a super thin tire that I have to stretch.

maybe less rolling resistance tire would help.
not too sure size would help. checkout tire calculator, you could get better mileage but it would be in error.

I think this is a case where you can only pick 2 of 3: wide wheels, correct tire size, reduced rolling resistance (narrow tires)

S13's come with 15x6? wheels and 195/205 tires. If you wanted to maximize fuel efficiency, 17x9's were the wrong choice.

Typically, the smallest approved size for 17x9 is 235/40 or 235/45. As mentioned above you could use a tire that is specifically designed for reduced rolling resistance. That would be my way of finding a compromise between the 3 things you seek.

Or you could buy a daily car that is good on fuel economy. These cars are not really money savers ...

Lightweight wheels and all season tires would help. All-season tend to have less rolling resistance, or go with an actual "low rolling resistance" compounded tire. Just be prepared for them to have the handling characteristics of skateboard wheels.

Heavy cast wheels can be a huge drain on gas mileage (and performance).
