View Full Version : Whats your ultimate Objective/Goal for your car?

West

Alright this is easy for me and Boostaholic. We have always said our major objective/goal of our cars is to scare the shit out of everyone and we cant stop until everyone is so scared they wont drive with us because the car is just too scary, that being either scary looks/speed/handling/etc. Not like those damb kids that scare the shit out of people when they drive because they drive like a moron. So I though I would share this with everyone and see what your main objective/goal for your car?

If someone were to piss their pants while I took them on a test drive in my car then I would then feel my car is complete

Boostaholic said he's gonna start carrying around a towel for people to sit in while he drives em around. They almost need it.... as soon as he installs his cams and stand alone ecu its all over for everyone... I think he might need that towel for himself... lol

Well, it's not something I have put alot of thought into, but I think I have ambitions to be one of the top show cars on the East Coast. The SR20 is becoming more and more common, so to have a well built KA should be more original in a couple of years. My exterior mods are done, interior is about 80% there. I guess you could say like an East Coast version of Non Fujita. All JDM parts except for the motor just for the sake of originality.

West

I like the KA for the same reasons. Its not that often you see a properly built KA.

Non Fujita has a nice as s14! OMG.

Well my goal for my car is alittle over 300hp nice exterior (jdm tails, new front end)and nice interior with 2 10in subs. I plan to bring my car back to the states with me in a few years and surprise some people who think there racing a regular old 240sx (i'd have limo tint to hide the fact that it's a right hand drive car). Also I want a T3 or a T3/4 turbo for my horsepower goals and i want it to keep me glued to my seat when i floor it (those of you with turbo's know what i mean, I love when the turbo kicks in Then when I get out of the military I plan to buy a 300zxtt and have my car as my work car. Well I guess thats a bunch of goals actually

i think my car is about 75% done towards the final goal. i haven't spent that much money on exterior stuff. most of my money have gone into the suspension. about the only things i'm really saving for are coilovers* and the evasive S14 rear strut bar. my main goal is to make spinmonkey handle GREAT! here in california, i try to take my car to the curvey canyon roads as much as possible. and hopefully will be spending more time at auto-x.

*sidenote: i currently have RS*R springs with tokico struts. will coilovers be a noticeable improvement?

West

spin: what coilovers you have planned?

ca18guy: what happens when you get pulled over in the state? lol

what do you guys think or apexi WS coilovers for a daily street car? or shoudl i jsut go with springs/shocks? do pillow ball mounts adjust camber?

ca18guy
08-03-2001, 03:24 PM
west: if I can't get it up to usa safety spec (kinda like a gt-r but i think there's less to do to this car), i read that there is a military exemption that i can get to bring it over (i just could never sell it under this exemption) so i guess i would need to keep the car in the family, i would'nt be the first to bring a UK spec back to the states

Tough question West.
Right now, I am looking at alot of little things that coulda/shoulda been done at the factory to make my '97 S14 faster. Better air flow, stiffer suspension, the usual stuff.
I guess I am looking to mod this car to 200hp and then put a NOS system on it for additional boost. I am willing to spend money, but not crazy money. Engine swap and Turbo are pretty much out of the picture... too much to spend. Im really just looking to work on what Ive got.

As far as looks go, other than larger wheels and hi performance tires, a great shine will do just fine for me.
I intend to keep it looking as stock as I can. I want to surprise those 6's and 8's I may eventually pick up OEM spoiler and ground effects, and a chin scoop to go with it. But right now I am more worried about performance than looks.

This is all subject to change as I live and learn.

Some pillow mounts allow for Camber Adjustment, although the Apexi's do not. You can buy some from Cusco for about 300-400$ that will allow for adjustment. I think http://www.mvpmotorsports.com has them.

I would reccomend Apexi WS Coilovers for street, but I would find out what spring rate they are. Also... keep in mine I like riding on the street with my 600-700lbs spring rated HKS Coilovers w/ pillow mounts I'm just crazy...

To say ther least......300 ponies to the wheels on a moderately built KA......suttle interior.....mild exterior......and to hit the 13's (at least) in the 1,320....hehehe

Once I put a sytem into my car, it was like the greatest thing that ever happened. Right now I'm driving a car without one, and its just too ordinary to me. The Bass gives you like a personal back massage that pounds with the music. Right now I got 2 Pioneers in a bandpass, but they aren't hitting the way I want, So thats why I'm going to go with a Rockford Fosgate in a ported box. HIts Perfectly..SUcks the air out of your body. But like Hondakilla said....that's me though.

Hrmm...I posted but it magically disapeared. HRMMMMM....

Anyway.

Spin - I have the GAB Revo Stroke II's on my eclipse and love them so much. The spring rates are entirely different, but they are a wonderful coilover system.

And finally to my goals...

West sort of already STOLE my idea! But basically my car isnt fast enough until it can scare the crap out of me so I am a little hesitant to completely floor it AND when I take people for a ride I want them to start screaming like a little girl while they try to grab the ooh shit handle but the g forces are so hard it throws their hand into their face and they start to piss their pants. Well, this is my first nice car, and basically I just want a clean car, with a light body kit and no decals. As for the rest, I'd absolutely love to get some sort of turbo in there, whether it's the ka or the sr I haven't decided yet. But I also haven't nearly the cash so it kind of works out good like that I ultimately want a car that'll surprise the #### out of the kids in the civics with exhaust and clear corners, not to mention the occasional obnoxious mustang driver. (I don't mean to stereotype here, but there seems to be quite a lot of these around my area)

ultimately..... stable ride good looks..... FAST i want turbo..... but what i want is a fantastic set-up done perfectly with 6 - 7 psi of boost ..... that would be enough for me i think i could get about 200 @ the wheels with that right? well that would suffice for me. ..... as long as its all done perfectly no shady parts.... only the best.... and its an auto but im starting not to care about that n e more

I'd like a car that can go fast when needed, but still be good on gas mileage and be accident resistant. Oh, it'd be nice for it to not look like a spaceship as well. Some nice comfy, but grippy seats'd be good. Can't forget a good sound to the thing.

Ok, in reality? I'd just like to first pick up a 240 for cheap that isn't completely driven to shat.

Anthony240, my bad, I just got back. I haven't put the turbo kit in yet, it's sitting in my garage because I'm waiting on the clutch. It's an XS engineering kit. It was a pleasant surprise because it's advertised with a t3/t4 turbo, but when it got here they sent a straight T04. The frontmunt is 24" with the endtanks, which isn't real big, but it fits perfectly into the bomex mouth. It's a rev hard manifold (VERY NICE). I was shocked at how good the quality of this piece is. I haven't even put it in, but I still recommend it because I've been in an auto 240 with the same kit and it was fun fun fun.

Let's see...my ultimate goal would pretty much be a complete 180SX conversion (except for steering wheel placement) with the CA18DET modded to around 250-300hp, 180SX taillight conversion, lots of suspension mods, a decent sound system, nice mint interior, and a simple body kit and spoiler--something that looks almost factory.

But anyway, my short term goal--like over the next 3-4 years, would be to do about as much as you can do to the KA (NA) to get hopefully around 160-170hp to the wheels; suspension: Eibach springs (ProKit or Sportlines), KYB AGX's, Whiteline sway bars, and STB's; new paint and a tasteful spoiler. With this all done...dominate street prepared category at the autoX's.

My goal, 11.something in the quarter mile, I want to be kicked off the track for not having a roll cage. Then I will not go to the dragstrip very often because I dont want to be replacing tranny's, diff's, or driveshafts. I will start focusing on trackdays at Sebring and Moroso. Also want to smoke some kind of exotic car, whether it be a Ferrari, Viper, Porsche, whatever as long as they paid like 10 times the amount I did for the car. The engine should be running this weekend so everybody say a 240 prayer for me tonight. Thanx
