Nissan Infiniti 240SX 180SX SILVIA SKYLINE 300ZX Q45 R200 Final Drive Ring & Pinion Gear Set 3.692 (48:13) Ratio.

If upgrading from a stock 4.083 ring gear from a 240sx this gear set will give you a higher top speed. Ideal for cars putting down more power that would like to cruise on the highway at lower RPM. This is the same final drive gear ratio as an S15 Nissan Silvia Spec-R.

Comes with LH and RH shims and M13 ring gear bolts.

have you had experience installing this particular set? I'm currently going through the process of installing the (97-01) 3.69 r&p and it hasn't been much of a bolt on affair. I always thought that swapping out the ring and pinion to a 300zx n/a diff was possible but as it turns out the ring gear is thicker by about 12mm. Consequently the large side shim next to the lsd is on the opposite side thus offsetting the lsd unit by the 12mm. Am I missing something or is getting the q45 lsd unit, 5 bolt stub axles and driveshafts the only way?

This is why I sell the shims with the ring & pinion set because of the different thicknesses involved. This is by no means an easy install process and should be done professionally.

You can use any R200 differential and shafts you want, but proper shimming is key. You need all the tools to check tolerances, backlash, runout etc.

no you're missing my point. I'm not talking about backlash, pinion height, preload, etc. For a guy using a stock r200v unit they're gonna run into problems because the ring gear is actually wider.

The large 8mm shim is standard size on all units, no matter what car. In a q45 this shim is on the opposite side of a stock s13/s14. using the q45 shims now offsets the whole lsd unit in the opposite direction. stock 6 bolt output flanges no longer fit correctly so you're stuck sourcing the q45 lsd and 5 bolt axle stubs. I'm only referring to the q45 because that's what I'm working with but I assume there are other similar issues.

Yes and since you offset the 8mm shim on the other side of the stock S13/S14 pumpkin now you must switch your output shafts as well. So your LH output shaft now becomes your RH output shaft and vice versa. This is assuming you are using a stock open differential. You will notice that one shaft is about 8mm longer than the other.

Your other option is not the Q45 diff / output shafts but the J30 6-bolt VLSD setup instead. The Q45 unit is essentially the same except for 5-bolt and 30 spline. Z32, J30, and 240sx use 29 spline.
