The RB20det Started right up but has this nasty noise coming from the timing cover area. Sounds exactly like this guys problem in his video.

Idle is fine, everything seems normal except this loud clanking sound! I am in time. Or I'm almost positive i am. Sounds like something is catching but it does speed up when the motor speeds up. any help?

CAS, the OEM timing cover has 3 4mm-ish washers to space the CAS out from the CAS bracket, you need to pull those washers from the rubber gasket and place those in between if you're not using the timing cover.

That video is not of my car. It's just one i found online that sounds exactly like what I'm hearing. I am using the timing cover on top and bottom.

Lower timing cover was hitting the crank pulley in one spot every time it came around. Guess I bent it somehow when removing or installing previously.
