How many sensors are on the 5spd tranny, what are they and and should the tranny come with the shift linkage

a few things that would help your plight. How about which 5 speed tranny you are talking about? Also, what motor that tranny should be mated to? And finally, shift linkage is for FWD cars.

I think there are 3 connectors, 2 speed sensors for 4th and 5th, and reverse lights. And Jay is right. The shifter on a KA/SR drops right into the tranny.

P.S. PSI, you ever look at a 350Z tranny? They have a shift linkage lol!

S13 KA has reverse, neutral position, 4th gear, and 5th gear, and speed sensor. S14 KA has the same but no 4th gear sensor. Dunno about SRs, don't care about them enough.

SOHC S13 KA has no 4th gear sensor, either. The SR trans does have the 4th gear sensor. The gear sensors are for the speed limiter... if the engine can't rev high enough in 4th to hit the limiter, the 4th gear sensor is left off.

Old school American transmissions had external shift linkage, too.

yup, there are 4 sensors and yes the shifter would just drop right in. look on ebay, they usually have transmissions every now and then, or just search the FS section on all the 240 forums
