As I mentioned in the other thread, it all depends upon your budget.

lol I'll bit cause I love LS swaps.

First off you have to ask yourself aluminum block or iron?

If aluminum you can either have a 5.3L/5.7L/6.0L/6.2L/7.0L

Iron=4.8L/5.3L/6.0L

Answer that first and we can continue.

Since he was nice enough I will play......

Decide on what your goal is. Look at your budget and combine the two. 4.8L and 5.3L can be had for rather cheap. The 4.8 is a high revving boost happy option. The 5.3 in aluminum (L33 etc) is a good compromise but a bit more expensive and difficult to find. The highly popular LS1 and LS2 will be more expensive but some kick ass motors if you can get a good deal.

Figure out your goals and if you want to stay NA or go FI. If you go FI I would say check out the 4.8 and 5.3L. Keep in mind, some motors (usually 04+ but not in all cases) have Gen 4 internals on a Gen 3 configuration. What that means is that they have the 24x reluctor wheel but have the stronger rod design and stronger timing chain design. The Gen 4 internals have been taken past 800rwhp in stock form MANY times if you are heading in that direction. If you choose an actual Gen4 motor you will likely have to get a 52x to 24x converter such as Lingenfelter to use most plug and play harnesses and the popular 411 PCM.
