vlsd on 93 se

I heard that all se 240sx's made in 93 came with a vlsd. The car I am asking about is a 93 fastback se, power everything. sunroof, and 5-speed. I need to know if it has a vlsd so I can pull it and put it on my coupe. Can anyone clear this up for me??

on s13 only hicas models came with vlsd if you are looking for a vlsd in a 240sx find a s14 with abs

I just went downstairs. I spin one side, and the other side spins as well. Doesnt this mean it has VLSD???

i have a 1993 with VLSD no hicas

the vlsd diff has cooling fins on it and a big purple sticker on the engine valve cover that says VLSD

Well as far as S14's go, not all SEs with ABS have LSD. Same goes that not all LSD equipped S14's have ABS.

For S13's, the superhicas models are supposed to be the only ones with LSD, but im seeing its not true either. There are some Canadian 240's here in the States and they have LSD.

S-chasis cars that FOR SURE came with VLSD:

S14 SE with ABS - It was a package on the SE models, but each was available seperately on the base model.

S13 with HICAS all had VLSD...correct.

ALL Canadian 240SX have VLSD.

sorry guy from the pics that diff looks to be more open then the bottom half of jenna jameson. the video doesnt achieve a thing however since you cant see both wheels. vlsd wheels spin same way and open diff they spin different ways. the rear cover is an open diff cover though those fins arent half as big as they usually are.

Looks open to me. My POS JDM VLSD's fins are way bigger than those.

I have a vlsd from a 93 HICAS model. That does not look like the one i have. See how the fins go up and down, on the vlsd I believe go up and down and from front to back on the bottem end of the cover. Also try to get someone to hold one tire and you spin the other. If yours spins freely and the other one doesn't move then no lsd. But if yours does not spin because the other one is stopping it then it is possible to be a vlsd.

i think you have an open diff. i'm not sure in other countries, but for sure in the u.s. the vlsd only came in fastbacks with super hicas. go to www.30moons.com and go to the 240sx homepage. it tells you everything you need to know about 240's and which ones came with vlsd.

I thought the VLSD used 5bolt output flanges?

vlsd over in other countries (maybe in a 180sx?) uses a different output flange but over here regular diff and lsd diff in a 240 use same everything and just bolts right in.

That is an open diff. The open diffs use the outside mounting bolts on the rear diff cover. A 180sx VLSD uses the inside 2 mounting bolts. Plus the cooling fins on the diff cover are different on a vlsd.
