View Full Version : SR runs on 63 ecu, but not E5 (well) or 61

Any explaination for this? I thought the E5 was interchangeable with the 62/63. Although I hear the 61 is garbage and I actually have never heard of someone running their SR on it.

The 63 runs it great, it primes the fuel pump, I get an rpm readout in my instrument cluster. Spark and fuel are good on all 4 cylinders.

E5 will run the SR but only if I hardwire the fuel pump. On it's own it won't run the fuel pump. But it does send signals to the sparkplugs and fuel injectors. So it'll run. No tachometer readout in the cluster though.

61 just primes the fuel pump and provides spark on cylinder 1 only. Other than that the motor just cranks and cranks without starting.

The difference between e5 and 62 is the o2 sensor -- fat sensor for e5, skinny for 62. The sensors are not interchangeable.

I've heard that. But if that's the only difference why would my E5 not trigger my fuel pump or provide rpm signal where as the 63 does?

sounds like a bad ecu.
