I just bought this 240 about 2 weeks ago and as you can see from the video its cranking over like it want's to start but it doesn't.

Last weekend I detailed the engine bay with some purple power and washed it off with a gentle spray from a hose nozzle.

After that, I took off the valve cover to paint it, removed timing chain guides (because of rattle), new spark plugs, and I also replaced the valve cover gasket because it was leaking. I placed the crankshaft pulley to TDC as well as the distributor.

At this time I also had just replaced the battery and put on new terminals.

After putting everything back together I went to start the car and it would start.

After pulling the plugs and attempting to crank the car I can see that the distributor works and each spark plug is firing.

I diagnosed the starter went out by taking it off and supplying a direct line of 12v power from the battery to the starters positive post. No response from starter.

I bought a new starter from eBay which came this morning. I put it on and went to start the car again, still cranks but no start. Although its making a different sound that it was before.

I had my buddy turn the key on the ignition to start up the fuel pump and while I had my ear to the gas tank I could here a high pitched noise. So I am assuming the fuel pump works.

I am at the extent of my mechanical abilities and knowledge and I am turning to you guys for some help. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. This is my DD, i gotta get to work!

if you're getting fuel, spark, and compression, it sounds like your timing is off. Again, this is through the internet and I'm not standing in front of you car.
