Has anyone else suffered a failure from their greddy oil thermostat?

Driving to work yesterday morning, it was cooler sweater weather, I noticed by oil temp never even showed up on my gauge, min is 140. Previously the thermostat has always seemed to work well, oil gets up to 165 and then maintains when cruising on the highway.

On the way home when it was warmer I got up to 160 in the city but then dropped below 140 once I got on the highway. Again this morning I saw no oil temp on the way work. Tonight I am going to remove thermostat and run without the cooler to make sure it's not the gauge but it is looking like the thermostat has failed open. Has this happened to anyone before, can it be fixed?

Just put ductape across the oil cooler to build temp. Saves a lot of work.

I have to remove my bumper to access my cooler it's actually less work for me to disconnect the thermostat. It's set up with a remote filter.
