z31 clsd question...

Well, I was reading about the clutch lsd swap possibility from the z31 and have one question.

1. Do you think it's possible to swap the ring gear from the open diff. into the clutch lsd, effectively making the clutch lsd a 4.083 final drive instead of the 3.7. In other words, you'd be using the stock ring and pinion just like in a helical lsd.

You could do it it the bolt holes on the diff match up with those on the ring gear. I don't think anyone has ever asked this because the clutch diff is so rare, and most of them are probably in bad shape.

i have heard this in-bad shape comment before, but I'm wondering why? Are nissan clutch diff's weaker than other's? Most of the time, in other manufacturers, it's the case where the clutch outlast the viscous.
