i had a great time. since my wheels are 6.5in wide and i have strut bars, i was running in the STS class, and i can guaruntee you i got nowhere near the top time. i was told i had several former national champs running in my class, and i was just happy to not get lost on the course and stay clear of knocking over any cones. i improved my overall time by about 5 seconds for the day, and im confident i woulda been a lot faster if i didnt have blow rear shocks...so i bet you can guess what's coming next on my mod list. everyone out there was really nice and i got a couple of veteran guys to ride with me and give me some pointers...i think next time out ill be a hell of a lot better. anyways, my dad took some video, so here are some image captures of that.

Auto-x is like a drug... only auto-xers can justify paying 30$ for 3 minutes total track time. ;)

What a rush!!! :D

i agree man, it's just as addictive as people have been telling me. i cant see myself voluntarily staying outside for 8 hours in 100 degree heat for any other reason. even thuogh i was really slow i had a hell of a time on each of my runs, and it really is amazing how friendly and helpful 95% of the people out there are.

It's a friendly environment too. People don't diss people because of their cars. People are helpful, ready to give tips to others... Our club always have a meal at the restaurant after a race. It's really a fun group.

Last event I got 10 min. of track time. I can't wait till the next event because I should have coilovers and Q45 brakes (Anyone know where to find the bracket needed for the calipers?).

Cool, you'll need to bring that car with you up to IN when Purdue lets you. STS is very competetive up here.

yeah im definitely planning on it, and by that time ill have some new shocks and springs and a summer of experience. my goal is to also get it into DSP because down here i dont stand a chance in STS, and i imagine itd be the same up in IN.

DSP is hard too... It's a Subaru Class.

DSP is also a BMW 3-series class. Up here there isn't a lot of DSP action. I rarely see a DSP car at an Indy region event and never at a Columbus region race. There's one DSP driver that I can think of who races in the Fort Wayne region who will make his way to Indy every once in a while that is very good and drives a Ford Probe GT. He usually gets top indexed time.

exactly the reason i wanna try DSP. so many people run STS, and so the chances of having someone thats been at it for 10+ years in your class is very high, while in a small class like DSP, you'll be competing against far fewer people. of course this is all based on advice that some really cool guy gave me at the event last saturday.

Don't forget: DSP, run R-Tires... or you won't be competitive at all.. I do recommend a full year on street tires though...

That probe actually runs on Azenis. But I plan on getting Victoracers in the spring sometime for GS.

In my opinion,I think drifting gives you a way more nuts feeling....like my vains just relax....its my drug.
Ive been doing autox but its just doesent come close to the feeling when drifting.
but I also beleive that autox is great for improving car control too.

theyre two completely different sports. drifting is for those who wanna be showy and auto-x is for those who wanna be fast.

You guys need to do road tracks... think of autocross but at highway speeds and with other cars on the track. :)

I'd love to, but I'm kinda on a tight ass budget.

They'll be plenty of time for HPDE when I get out of school and get my Elise.

i ran in dsp last weekend, i did pretty good, 125.?? off course practice run, and then a 124.?? 3 cones and i got to the last run 120.21 1 cone, i think if i would have had more runs i woul dhave done better, i had to drop tire pressure, and my springs are too stiff, so i m gonna change back to 7/5, but i was against 3 rally cars with catges and shit, so i iddnt really have any chance for my fisrt time, but i did beat some of the rally car's times cause they had more cone penatlies than me, and there was 3 cars and 4 drivers, one driver hadnt autocrossed much. so for my fisrt time i was happy........
for next year i m gonna go with azenis, i had es100's on front 245-40-17 and cooper cobra's on the back 255-40-17, coopers gotta go..........
