So I have been trying all kinds of ways to refurbish my s13 dash and I think I finally figured out how to do it. It's for sure not easy and very time consuming but it appears to be doable. It isn't done yet but I will know by tomorrow if it comes out well- I will publish more pictures.

My dash before:

I like the fact there is a 3 bay tool chest in your kitchen area

How much did this cost you? And how many hours of labor? Did you ever consider the dash covers?

coverlay for about $120 and your golden for another 20years.This is the simplest way I know of and looks GREAT!

Thanks for the feedback.

So far I have spent probably 8 hours on it. Of course, this is the first time that I am doing this so once I got better it may take less time. I predict there will be at least another 8 hours to finish it up.

Dash covers are nice but some people don't like them, and I am one of those picky people :)

Spools, I did consider a coverlay BUT...
1. Its plastic and there is something about coverlay that doesn't look right
2. It sticks out past the vents and it doesn't look flush all around the other edges
3. The coverlay does not go all the way down on the center console area or even on the the sides (This was the main reason I didn't go with the Coverlay)

I really wanted to see if I can return my dash to the factory condition keeping the soft to touch material. Also, the material I chose is non slip so anything you put on the dash will stay there for the most part (unless someone is drifting lol).

Actually, if this works, I am thinking of covering all the plastic surfaces in my S13 with this (pillars, center console and panels).

It looks like all dashes will crack at some point no matter what and threads like this are most welcomed.

What is the most durable material and glue to use for project like this?

I just wonder how long it will last exposed to UV and high heat. Nothing will piss me of more than waking up next day only to see air bubbles or cracks all over the new dash again.

Did you remove the old material?

That's looking really nice.

What type of vinyl are you using to cover it with? What type / brand of glue? Is there any fitment issues with the added thickness around the vents?

Really cool thread. Thanks for sharing!

Did you fill any of the cracks at first? Then sand smooth before applying new material

Hello everyone. The end result is astonishing! The dash came out great! It's not perfect but near perfect and should outlast the original thin vinyl as this stuff is thicker. The only areas that aren't perfect are where I needed to connect the vinyl after I cut out excess material on the sides. Also where I covered the HUD hole on the top of the dash which can easily be converted back to HUD dash. I may sell this dash , if anyone is interested please PM me. On to the pictures!!
