I snapped some photos with my 1 mp digital in my free time this weekend at Sears Point. http://www.dentsport.com/searspoint/ Not too into modern american cars but the GTO that competes in GT is sick! I met Dale Earnhart Jr. and Boris Said, as their corvette team was in the same pit as us and we practiced right after them all three days. There were hundreds of fans there all week just to get his autograph...they could have cared less about the alms race. I'm not a fan of his (am a big Boris Said fan..he does have a 400 hp escort cosworth and a tommi makinen Evo 6.5) but at least now I can tell my non-car friends I met dale Jr. and they will be somewhat excited. When I met tommi makinen I was all excited and told my buddies and they just laughed at me like "who the F is that?".

The GTO isn't an American car -- it's an imported Australian car.

Nice pics, BTW!

I am the mechanic for the circuit city protege and we should be there with the new mazda 6, similar to the one tri-point was using at sears point this past weekend. ALMS is really such a good series along with world challenge GT and TC.

I know the GTO is a Holden and I respect it more than most modern V8 USDM cars but it still uses a pushrod V8 which puts it into my "not so cool" catagory. Honestly, all of the V8 cars in World Challenge GT are sick. The cadillacs, the quattros(very sick) and especially the Saleen. They are so well prepared and produce massive exhaust notes. The RS6 audi turbos spool when they tap the throttle standing still and are definitely the quietest cars there. The engines are works of art and use wiggens clamps for everything!
With the porsches, the difference in noise level between the ALMS GT3 RSR and the GT3 RS in GT is huge. One of the GT teams was testing a flat shift program with their syncro h pattern gearbox and it was probably the fastest shifting syncronized gearbox I have ever heard. The MG Lolas that Dyson use have a pretty aggressive anti-lag program also. Atlanta should be sweet but I can't wait for Laguna Seca with the JGTCC cars.
