do you want a rebuild kit with oem parts or upgraded pistons and rods etc.. if your going for oem topline might be a good choice but if you want aftermarket there are tons of different options. search around and see whats best for your needs. hope this helps

I asked a mechanic and he said if it was him that he would just fine a used engine because I would probably need a crank and some other things. I didn't think I would need that stuff to just rebuild my engine and put it back in ?

Are you thinking about rebuilding it yourself?

There is a certain amount of "know how" required to rebuild an engine.

"Engine Kit" + machine shop work + labor = $1000-2500

Used KA from a junkyard, with a warranty = $400

You make the call.

Once you've realized that a used, low mileage motor is the smart way to go, then search for one on www.car-part.com ...if yours is a DOHC, then any year from '91-98 will work, look for '97-98 motors to find low miles.

I was going to have the mechanic help me rebuild it cause he is my girlfriends dad so he wouldn't charge me much at all if any. He has the " know how " I need. I don't want to get one from a junkyard because I rather have an engine that is almost new compared to the lowed ka24e I found was with 90,000 miles. Thats why I am stuck, other than that though if he wouldn't help me cause maybe he didn't think it was the right decision I would be stuck doing it his way. So I am tore between the choices.

Do some reaserch before you atempt to work on your car with your gf's dad, so you dont sound like a fool. You dont what him thinking "Damn that boy's a moron" when ever he sees you, for the rest of your life . Make a impressive impression, when it comes to his own work.
