So I'm replacing the Balljoints in all of the control arms. I got the rear off easy but I ran into a lot of trouble replacing the fronts. I used heat (which made the rear ones come off like magic but It didn't really help in the front. The actual ball came out FML. My friend suggested I cut it but the blade on my dremel was a little too big to finish the job. Any ideas?

I cant tell by the picture, but did you remove the big c-clip?

if that's been removed, you are going to have to smack the shit out of it to loosen it up... or just finish cutting the race and use a screwdriver and hammer to chisel or bend the race out.

i dont think it has to be mentioned, but the ball joint race will come out from the bottom...

Yea the C-clip has been removed. I was thinking of using a flathead and hammer but didn't want to jump the gun just yet.

Thanks for an appropriate answer btw.

Use the correct tool for the job. Go rent a ball joint press kit.
Or, have a mechanics shop press the old one out and the new one in.

or... do it the easy way like i did and buy control arms with the ball joints. From rock auto it was like $5 extra per side getting the arm already assembled vs just a ball joint

Not available for s14 btw, and to answer op question put ur tools down take the arm to a mechanic shop or a automotive machining shop to press them out. Im curious to know how u will install the new one.

I was going to press the new ones in with a BJ press I have.

For future reference I had a pair that were really stuck, we tried presses, hammers, everything. Finally grabbed the arm by the bushing end, and swung it downward onto the "anvil" portion of a vice. 2 or 3 swings and it popped it right out. You can get more force into it because it's not moving around on you as you're hitting it.

Without damaging the control arm?

Yeah worked great. That's the normal load path for those arms anyways so it's plenty stiff to not cause issues

Yeah. Just realized I didn't clarify - you're hitting the bolt on the BJ on the "anvil". Don't hit the arm!

Jeez just go to autozone or any part store that will rent tools and press it out, its a easy job with the right tool

Lol yea that's why I asked if the LCA would get damaged because I thought I was hitting the arm, but I gotcha now.
