Does anyone know what could have causes this maybe cause it didn't have oil catch can ?? For comparison here is how new motor lookshttp://i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac190/sadiddy85/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20140727_183348.jpg (http://s898.photobucket.com/user/sadiddy85/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20140727_183348.jpg.html)

it could be a number of different things.. maybe previous owner didn't change his oil too often.

Engine looks like it belonged to an American before it left Japan

It could also be a lot of egr gas getting in there. Lots of exhaust gases going back in at the" t" can make things look burned like that.

I am gonna weld couple fittings on valve cover and run a catch can hopefully that will help

I run a straight up exhaust evac like most v8's and 2j's

If the oil was dirty that probably could have caused the blown motor. This can all get trapped inside the bearings and other crucial parts of the motor and cause wear. I ran ITB's on my civic without filters and I'd have to change my oil every 1000 miles because it would be black from incoming air coming into contact with the oil. Maybe the previous owner ran the motor without an intake filter or a catch can, leaving the T open to atmosphere as stated before.
