I am well aware that r33 cables fit the s14. I am well aware that z32 cables fit the s13. I do not care to hear about z32 or r33.

Has anybody tried using another sort of Nissan E-brake cables, (other than the r33) in place of the z32 cables on the s-chassis?

I plan on making a trip to the junkyard this week to try to figure something out. Was wondering if it would be pointless because someone else has already tried such a thing.

What chassis are you dealing with? The S13? The Z32 2+2 are suppose to fit decently on them.

Anything you find would have to be a coupe in order to fit. The J30 cables should fit, but they would be entirely way too long.

13 of course. I'm trying to leaving buying new z32 cables as a last resort. Spending over a $100 on something when there might be another alternative is something worth finding out.

2+2 is a proven fit...

I'm well aware of this. I'm wondering if there is another alternative though.

Z32 2+0 fits if rerouted a certain way.

I'm aware of this as well. The mounting point is different though. The z32 is not a very common car in the junkyard. If it was, I'd get some cables off of the chassis.

Best way to go about finding out is by going out in the yards and test fitting shit while there. That's how a lot of the info out today was learned anyway.

Q45 shares the same drum style e-brake as the Z32. You could always check the cables on those and see how much the length differs. Cables can always be cut and spliced.

I planned on going anyways. Don't plan on test fitting anything though. I first need to find chassiss that have the same mounting positions right after the T-bracket for the cables. Then need to get lengths.

J30, M30 coupe and vert should use the same mounting style. Possibly the Q45 as well.

I'll check those out. I haven't seen any m30's in a while though.

R33 cables fit the s14 chassis too long for s13

He's looking for alternative cables to the proven ones. It's common knowledge that R33 and Z32 cables fit the S14 and S13 respectively.

Edited opening post.

j30 won't be ideal. Here is the mounting bracket...http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k512/getkruked/Mobile%20Uploads/2014-05/20140526_125559_zps7urelh0p.jpg
From the mounting bracket to the T-bracket, there is nearly
10" of open cable. The sheathing could be slid back, but then there would be too much exposed cable at the hub. One could always add sheathing, but...
To be honest, I think that this cable in general will be too long. I did not get a measurement because I didn't have enough time to tear shit apart.

Here is the q45...http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k512/getkruked/Mobile%20Uploads/2014-05/20140526_130559_zpshmcjzqyv.jpg
Self explanatory. After looking at this picture though, I wonder to myself if there is a possibility. Each side has an independent adjustment. I couldn't get a measurement because someone cut the rear knuckles out and in doing so, they cut the cables.

None of the Maximas or Altimas can be used. Cables are waaaaaay too long. I didn't bother to look at the main mounting location because of their overall length.
Hardbodys, Tucomas and Rodeos are out of the equation.
BMW, Volvo, Saab...no go.
Almost all FWD platforms are out of the door...although, the '92 Stanza now, that might be something to work. There was only one at the yard that I went to. I couldn't get an exact measurement because some things were rusted out. I know what to keep my eyes open for. A rough measurement was just under 5 feet long...

...not too far off from the z cables.

I need to find some of the old school Z's and an m30. See what they are working w/.

In regards to the Q45, do you know if there are any mounting holes that far back on the S14? Below is an image of the Q45 e-brake cables. It uses and equalizer cable vs a T-bracket on the S-chassis.

Not sure if J30 will work either, mainly because the e-brake mechanism is slightly different than Z32/Q45 e-brakes.

The s14 cables are near identical to the s13. The only difference between the 13 & 14 is the cable end that attaches to the caliper.
