hey guys i have never had this problem before, i just replaced all the exhaust gaskets, and the oil light will come on at idle, then after i get on the throttle it will turn right off, car has no leaks, and is perfect on oil. runs great, drove over 100 miles with this problem and the motor runs fantastic. so if it was oil pressure it would have nuked the motor by now. im thinking bad sensor/connection/ground. the car is slammed and we just had a ton of rain. anyone know where the sensor is ect, grounds, connections, solutions, tests. advice? i noticed the problem today it has been hot ass hell, it happened on the highway randomly, i might have hit a bump in the road to hard, or hit something that could have messed the connection up. no dents on oil pan. thx!

How about you invest on an oil pressure sensor to make sure. If its turning on at idle, pump might be going bad. Also, what weight oil are you running? Oil might be too thin for the ambient temp.

10-40 where is the sensor, I'm starting to think it might be bad, I accedently left the good open during a rain storm recently, it might have destroyed the sensor.

maybe you should check your oil pan for dents too.

The oil sensor is on the oil block the filter screws on to. If a new sensor doesn't fix the issue, replace your oil pump or pull the lower pan and inspect the suction pipe. You could have something blocking the pick up.

im checking the sensor today, hopefully it is disconnected, or loose. do these sensors typically go out often? i dont think it is my oil pump, but do they go out often, my buddy tells me they are pretty bulletproof.

You dont need to see dents for the bottom of the pan to be pushed up on the sump. Invest on an aftermarket oil pressure gauge to be sure. Anything less than 10 psi at idle is iffy on SRs.

When the engine is running and oil light is turning on, pop the oil filler cap and see if you have oil coming out of the drippers. Atleast you know the oil is atleas making it up to the head even tho the pressure could be low.

My sensor is unplugged because I replaced it with an aftermarket sensor/gauge and my light never comes on...
