So....my turbo coolant line is leaking

It's on an SR20DET, the coolant line between the engine and the fire wall is leaking. I have no idea why, I just installed it. I assume it's because I didn't tighten it enough or something so I'm going to try and give it a few more cranks with the wrench. But I have no idea what the little bolt/nut thing's size is and I'm having a bitch of a time getting back there. The turbo line kit I got is from circuit sport.

Any idea on that small bolt size? I assume it something like a 6 or 7mm. And how to get at it? I've heard that raising the tranny helps a bit, but is that really the only way?

99% sure it's a 7mm (that's what it was on my DIF lines). 1/4" drive ratchet and some extensions (depending on the angle of the clamp) will be your friend.

well as for the leak maybe adding a little bit of silicone on the threads might help it out instead of just being metal on metal...

I would recommend just tightening the clamp.

^^^explain not mad just curious. if its at near max tightening and isnt making a seal what would be the next best thing to do?

Well introducing RTV into the cooling system seems like a bad idea to me.

Generally you can go a few turns of the clamp tighter and fix it, or else you have some other issue.

ok i see what your getting at.. isnt there usually like a rubber type of bushing within the bolt to help the seal anyway?

the coolant line is just a rubber tube with a heat jacket or something. So I assume tightening it should fix it.

Get the s14 style water neck is next best thing. Not that expensive, and you can get a barbed fitting for it if you want to try it that way.

Do yourself a HUGE favor and block that line off. Run your coolant hose into the waterneck. I messed with mine a lot and over the years it would always develop a leak. I no longer have any coolant lines behind the engine and it is a huge relief.
