i bought a used sr20det from this guy and was told it was a good sr. i put the sr into my coupe to find out that it has low oil pressure. at cold start it only has about 30lbs of pressure and as it warms up the pressure drops to close to 0lbs. i shut the car off when it hits 5lbs of pressure. so i decided to pull the motor out and rebuild the block. what should i tell the machine shop to do to the block? i never rebuild a engine before so im here asking for some advice. so far i plan on putting new bearings and thrust washers, new rings , new oil pump, getting the block hot tanked and decked. i was also gonna get the crank polished? shoud i reuse the pistons?

I think you should take it to your builder and ask what it needs.

If you ever plan on upping the boost, I'd strongly recommend getting some forged internals for the bottom end. If you plan on drifting, have the head built too.

Just take you stuff to a reputable machine shop. They should know what to do. If they are asking you, find a new place.
